Procurement

Why do computer-related purchases need to go through Semel IT?

Semel Institute has centralized the purchases of computer hardware and equipment to ensure security compliance with UCLA Health Science Compliance Office policies. Our team takes inventory of all computer-related equipment purchased with University funding and used for University business. We install encryption software on all of these devices before handing it to users.

Attention!

Monitors, peripherals, cables, and adapters do not need to be approved by Semel IT, but you may reach out to SemelITBuy@mednet.ucla.edu for assistance with placing the order or confirming the proper compatibility.

If you receive any Procurement Card (P-Card) requests for any of the computer equipment listed above that has not yet been cleared by Semel IT, please redirect them to SemelITBuy@mednet.ucla.edu.  We will make sure that the equipment to be purchased has the minimum requirements for data security set forth by UCLA Health IT and make sure that the devices will be delivered to our Semel IT computer shop.
